    Introducing Ripple Effect from ORMGP

    You may be thinking this is something new—and you’re right! This is the first bi-monthly newsletter from all of us at the Oak Ridges Moraine Groundwater Program (ORMGP). It’s a short read, but designed to help you in your work, enlighten you, and keep you up-to-date on everything water.  

    Whether you are a  current member, have previously worked or partnered with us, or interacted with our team in some way, you’ll be interested in learning what’s new at ORMGP after 25 years of being southern Ontario’s most trusted database for groundwater data and analyses.  

    There’s a lot to explore—even some tools and articles that can help you save time and money in your day.

    Join the ORMGP on the evening of September 24,
    2026 to celebrate 25 years of going beneath the
    surface to uncover current and historical water
    resource and geological data.

    • Hear from world renowned hydrogeologist Dr. John Cherry, and welcome back to Canada newly minted University of Toronto hydrogeology professor Dr. Richard Taylor (currently at University College London) 
    • Take a tour through the Canada’s largest timber structure, a leading edge environmentally sustainable building, and the newly constructed home of TRCA and ORMGP
    • Re-connect with old and new colleagues and enjoy a selection of fine food and drink. Join us for an evening of comradery under a warm fall evening

    New members often ask us where to start when they first dive into ORMGP. This new short video is a helpful place to begin.

    It introduces the important work of the Oak Ridges Moraine Groundwater Program, why the platform exists, and how current and historical water resource data, maps, tools, and interpretations come together to support informed decision-making.

    Whether you are new to ORMGP or have worked with us for years, it is a quick way to see the bigger picture behind the program and the value it brings to water-related work across south central Ontario.

    So, who’s behind all of this data, maps, cross-sections, and analysis? We’re a small team, but we all have years of experience, a dedicated passion, and an interest in groundwater, the environment, and how our work can help you and this province manage this precious resource.
